Giveaway ~ Door to Door Organics Gift Certificate

If you have not heard of Door to Door Organics you are missing out! What a treat!

I had heard of Door to Door Organics before but thought it would be too expensive and something I would not be interested in, boy was I wrong! The amazing staff over at Door to Door sent me a gift certificate to try them out and now I am hooked.

Door to Door Organics is wanting you to try them out too and is offering one lucky reader here on my blog a $100 gift certificate.

Door to Door is super easy to use.  Just sign up online for what size of box you would like and if you would like all fruits or vegetables or a mix. You can also choose how often you want a delivery.  All produce is organically grown and much of it is local!

In addition to produce, Door to Door Organics is a full line grocery so you can literally do all of your shopping without leaving home.

For my order, I chose a medium mixed box. A few days before the order is to be sent you will receive an email as to what will be in the box and from there you can customize and swap out items to get exactly what you need. For instance my email said my box contained tomatoes and onion along with an array of other items. My sister has a garden and currently has an abundance of tomatoes and onions, so I decided to swap out those for a red pepper and zucchini. Also knowing there is an abundance of tomatoes and onions, I added some cilantro to my order so I can make some fresh salsa.

The box was filled with a beautiful mix of fruits and veggies. All though you can pick the day would like delivery, there is no need to be home. The groceries are packaged very neatly with cooling packs so everything stays fresh!

With the ingredients from my box and few from my pantry we have some great meals. I have made a fennel and orange salad, roasted beet salad and an amazing veggie stir-fry. We have roasted sweet potatoes as a side dish and snacked on fresh white peaches and crisp apples. Everything has been great and I still have a few things left to use to make more salads and side dishes and snacks.

Here is a list of all the ingredients in my box.
Beets
Broccoli
Sweet Potato
Valencia Oranges
Yellow Summer Squash
Cucumber
Fuji Apples
Garlic
Zucchini
Portabella Mushroom
Red Pepper
Sugar Snap Peas
White Peaches
Leaf Lettuce
Parsley
Cilantro

I am looking forward to my next email to what goodies await. I will then being able to customize it using what I already have in my pantry to make a week or more worth of meals! I purchase mostly organic ingredients and shop at Costco, Hy-Vee, Natures Pantry and Whole Foods. By the time I spend gas and time going to all these places, Door to Door Organics has saved me time and money!  I wish I would have started this sooner!

In addition to the awesome produce and products Door to Door Organics offers, the website is full of recipes and easy ways to plan meals for the week. They will also do the cooking for you if you like. Door to Door Organics will be carrying a rotating weekly assortment of meals, all of which serve 3-4 people, including four main dishes, four side dishes and snacks such as kale chips and hummus and a dessert. Customers can order their prepared meals in the same way they order their fresh organic produce and natural and organic grocery items

Now is your chance to try out Door to Door Organics. I promise you will be hooked! SPIN! Partners with Local Icons Gates and Roasterie to Make Pineapple Pizza Magic

SPIN! Partners with Local Icons Gates and Roasterie to Make Pineapple Pizza Magic

Below is information from the official press release about Spin! Pizza and their new roasted pineapple topping.

Not only is SPIN! ® adding stone hearth-roasted pineapple to its long list of toppings, the local Neapolitan pizzeria is partnering with Kansas City icons Gates Bar-B-Q and the Roasterie to make pineapple pizza magic with its new BBQ di Pollo e Pineapple pizza. One of several new menu additions, the new BBQ di Pollo e Pineapple serves up a combination of Kansas City favorites. SPIN!’s hand spun thin-and-bubbly crust is topped with crushed roma tomatoes mixed with Gates Bar-B-Q Original Sauce, caramelized onions, roasted pineapple, fresh mozzarella, and oven-roasted chicken tossed in the Roasterie’s Super Tuscan Coffee BBQ Sauce.

“The rich, sweet, mocha flavor of the Roasterie’s barbecue sauce is the perfetta (perfect) complement to the tangy, peppery notes of the Gates sauce for our new BBQ di Pollo e Pineapple pizza,” says SPIN! co-owner Gail Lozoff. “This turned out to be an ideal opportunity to introduce pineapple to our menu while teaming up with two Kansas City businesses whose sauces combine to make an incredible pizza.”

While BBQ di Pollo e Pineapple pizza will be a permanent addition to SPIN!’s menu, a series of pineapple pizzas will be offered every week throughout the summer.

“Let’s face it,” says Lozoff. “You don’t see much pineapple on pizzas in Italy. It took us a long time to cave into guest requests for it. So, now that we’re doing it, we want to make it a big deal!”

Dubbed “The Pineapple Project,” the pizzas will range from a bianca (white) pizza featuring potato, goat cheese, and pineapple on a crust brushed with garlic roasted olive oil glaze to a rossa (red crushed roma tomato base) pizza generously covered in sausage and pineapple. Another pizza, Prosciutto e Spinaci (Italian ham, spinach and roasted fig onion marmalade), will be available on an on-going basis with sweet roasted pineapple added for $1.25.

SPIN! is also hoping that people will send in their ideas for pizza combinations that include roasted pineapple. Tag SPIN! with a hashtag #pineappleproject on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. As photos post, SPIN! will share them among the social media sites.

In addition to introducing pineapple to the menu, a retired guest favorite pizza is returning. The Greco is making a comeback with its Greek-influenced roasted red peppers, spinach, kalamata olives and feta cheese.

The Greco and pineapple pizzas are part of SPIN!’s wide variety of affordable hand-spun, stone-fired, traditional thin-and-bubbly crust, rustic whole wheat crust, and gluten-free pizzas.

SPIN!’s pizza dough is made fresh every day using several types of flour including one imported from Italy, and its gluten free crust is renowned for its flavor. All the toppings are roasted in stone hearth ovens each day, including mushrooms, caramelized onions, artichokes, capers, and even pecans, pine nuts, pancetta, and now pineapple. Many of the cheeses are hand grated.

SPIN! also offers a variety of appetizers, soups, salads, signature Panini and Italian deli sandwiches, and gelato. All of SPIN!’s soups, salad dressings, pizza toppings, and ingredients are prepared fresh daily from fresh produce and meats.

SPIN!’s menu is created in collaboration with another Kansas City icon, James Beard Award Winning Chef Michael Smith.

SPIN! Neapolitan Pizza, which has won numerous national and local awards for its food and concept, also is known for its rotating roster of premium wines priced well below traditional restaurant prices. The beverage selection also includes white, red and blood orange sangrias and craft beers.

SPIN! has five Greater Kansas City locations with a sixth under construction in Prairie Village’s Corinth Shopping Center. Current SPIN! locations include 4950 Main in Kansas City, Mo., 1808 N.W. Chipman Rd. in Lee’s Summit, Mo., 6541 W. 119th St. in Overland Park, Ks., 14230 W. 119th St. in Olathe, Ks., 9474 Renner Blvd. in Lenexa, Ks., and a  location in Orange, Calif.

large stock pot of boiling water

Bring pot of water to boil. Add cleaned corn and cook 4 to 5 minutes. Remove corn and allow to cool. Chop cilantro, jalapenos, and red onion and place in mixing bowl. Cut corn off cob and add to other ingredients. Add lime juice, salt and just a drizzle of honey.  Mix well and serve with chips!
